Meet our
Pastors



Tim has lived in Torrance since the 3rd grade. He began church ministry in 2002—first as a youth pastor, then a college pastor, then an associate pastor, and in 2013 he planted SBMC and became the lead pastor. His main responsibilities include teaching, preaching, and leadership development. Tim married Christine in 2010 and has two sons, Matthew and Micah. When free, Tim enjoys watching and coaching sports, reading, and spending time with his family. Tim has a Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology 2008.

A Southern California native, Esther moved out to the South Bay area in 2013 to become an associate pastor at SBMC. Before SBMC, she began church ministry as an intern pastor after graduating from UC Irvine and then later as a children's ministry pastor. At SBMC, Esther heads the community group ministry, providing training and support for the groups and Community Group leaders. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her husband and friends, reading books, watching movies, listening to music, and staying healthy. Esther has a Master of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from Talbot School of Theology 2010.

Daniel “Potter” Kim was born and raised in San Francisco, before moving down to Southern California to graduate from Talbot School of Theology. He is currently the worship pastor at SBMC, leading the praise team and congregation to sing to the Lord and remember the powerful truths found in God’s Word. In his free time, he loves playing and listening to music, watching movies, rock climbing, catching up with friends and spending time with his wife Esther and his son Elias. Daniel has a Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology 2016.

Esther is a socal native and grew up in the South Bay for most of her life. Before coming to SBMC, Esther served as a youth pastor for several years and during those years had the opportunity to receive degrees in counseling and spiritual formation, respectively. Her passion is to help people find hope and resilience in Christ. Esther currently serves as the preschool pastor at SBMC and also works at a private Christian school as an administrator. Esther is currently pursuing licensure to become a therapist and hopes to use her skills to help students and families find restoration. In her free time, Esther enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel and her two beautiful and wild kiddos, Elias and Elora and they are usually traveling or finding adventures wherever they go. Esther has an M.A. in Counseling from Loyola Marymount University 2016 and an M.A. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Talbot School of Theology 2019.
